WordPress is an immensely popular blogging platform, where bloggers can write content on various topics and post it online for their readers. It is an advanced Content Management System (CMS) that can be used for creating self hosted web sites or blogging ids on their own server.
Word press is a better option than Google’s Blogspot.com as it has much more defined features. Blogging nowadays is not only a trend, but also a way of life for millions of users across the web. A platform like WordPress makes it possible even for people with little or no coding skills to voice their opinion on the Internet.

Registration
Go to the site www.wordpress.com and click on the link to create your own WordPress account. Create your username and fill out the rest of the details. You can sign up for free blog and in case you like the features of a paid blog you could go in for the upgrade too.
Dashboard
Once registration is complete you will be taken to the Dashboard, which is the back end panel of your blog. Here is where you decide the look of your blog, post articles and a whole lot of other features related to maintaining and promoting your blog.
In the dashboard you will see many options and buttons related to blogging. Towards the left you will notice many tabs all of which have different functions. Next to that you will see the “Right Now” column, which gives you basic information of blog contents like posts, pages, categories, comments etc.
Next to that is another box labeled “Quick Press”, which you can use to publish quick posts.
Selecting a theme
First select a nice looking theme for your blog. Go to “Appearance” and click on “Themes”. You will get a list of several themes and click one based on your preference.
Writing a post
This is the actual purpose of blogging. Go towards the left end of the panel and move your mouse to “Posts”. You will notice a drop down box and then click on “Add New”.
Now a new window would have opened. The first space is for naming the title of your article. This is followed by the body where you can type your article. In the body you will notice a lot of buttons that will aid you in writing your articles. These include features such as alignments, font color, attachments and so on. You can even insert images by clicking on “Upload/Insert”.
Now, type your article and once you have finished, it’s time to publish it.
Publishing your article
On the right hand corner you would notice the “Publish” option. You can set key details like date and time of publishing if you want your article to be published on a later date. Click Publish.
Once you click Publish the window would refresh and on the top you would view a link called “View Post”. Click on the post to see how your post looks on your blog.
